New poll reveals chilling truth about Trump’s military adventures that even his own base cannot ignore

Public support is crumbling hard.
A new poll reveals that a significant portion of Americans, including a surprising number of President Trump’s own base, are skeptical about the ongoing military operation against Iran, as reported by The Hill. The Reuters/Ipsos survey found that only about one in four respondents actually support “Operation Epic Fury,” which the U.S. launched jointly with Israel.
Overall, the recent survey showed that 27 percent of adults approve of the strikes. However, a larger group, 43 percent, actively disapprove of the operation, while 29 percent remain unsure about it. When you break it down by political affiliation, the numbers tell an interesting story.
More than half of Republicans are in favor of the strikes, but it’s not a unanimous front, with 32 percent of Republicans unsure and 13 percent outright against it. On the Democratic side, support is much lower, with only 7 percent in favor, 74 percent in opposition, and 19 percent unsure.
This skepticism from Americans isn’t just limited to the conflict with Iran, either
The stakes of this operation are incredibly high. U.S. Central Command reported that as of 9:30 AM EST on Sunday, three U.S. service members had tragically lost their lives, five were injured, and several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions. On the Iranian side, the joint strikes resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with a number of other political and military officials.
The poll also highlighted a broader concern about President Trump’s use of military force. Over half of all respondents said they believe the president uses military force “too much.” This sentiment extends across the political spectrum, with 23 percent of Republicans, a striking 87 percent of Democrats, and 60 percent of those who don’t identify with either major party agreeing with that assessment.
It’s a stark contrast to President Trump’s promises during his 2024 campaign. At the time, he vowed to end the cycle of U.S. entanglements abroad and shift focus back to domestic issues. Yet, in recent months, we’ve seen him oversee operations not only in Iran but also in Venezuela, Syria, and Nigeria. This shift has drawn criticism not only from Democrats on Capitol Hill but also from within his dedicated “MAGA” base.
Looking ahead, President Trump has offered a timeline for the operation in Iran, a country with over 90 million people. He told reporters that he expects it to take roughly four weeks. “It’s always been a four-week process,” President Trump said. “We figured it will be four weeks or so. It’s always been about a four-week process so, as strong as it is, it’s a big country, it’ll take four weeks, or less.”
This survey was conducted online, gathering responses from 1,282 U.S. adults. It carries a margin of error of 3 percentage points for all adults surveyed, and between 4 and 5 percentage points when looking at specific political affiliations.
