Elon Musk is totally on board with the idea of a real-life Jurassic Park, sparking a huge debate across X about whether bringing back dinosaurs is a fantastic dream or a recipe for disaster. While he isn’t offering to fund the project himself, he’s hoping someone else steps up to make it happen. This endorsement has really captured everyone’s attention.

According to Reality Tea, the whole buzz kicked off on March 5 when Nikita Bier, X’s Head of Product, shared the iconic Jurassic Park movie logo on the platform. He captioned it, “I feel like this startup idea is fundable now.” Later that same day, Musk reposted Bier’s thought-provoking post, adding his own enthusiastic comment: “I hope someone makes this work!”

Naturally, the internet went into a frenzy. The post has already racked up more than 43 million views, and users have been quick to weigh in with their thoughts. Many people are absolutely stoked about the prospect.

The response wasn’t all sunshine and prehistoric rainbows

One user even directly challenged Musk, replying, “You are the someone. So you can definitely make it work.” Another person echoed that sentiment, saying, “If anyone can do it, you can, Elon. You have the resources & the connections. And if you need someone to do the legwork of connecting people, let me know.”

A third user chimed in with a playful jab, writing, “It sounds more fun than launching rockets. You’ve got to admit.” Another user humorously added a specific request, hoping scientists would “only make land dinosaurs and not flying or aquatic dinosaurs cuz those are the ones to actually be afraid of lol.”

Plenty of users pointed out the obvious, reminding everyone how Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park movies usually end. These films were basically a six-part warning, after all. One user sarcastically responded, “Those 6 movies were full of warnings! ‘Life finds a way’ was supposed to be a threat, not a pitch deck tagline.”

Another commenter highlighted a critical flaw in the whole concept, saying, “Everyone wants Jurassic Park until the fences go down. The problem was never the technology. It was the humans running the park.” In reality, bringing back dinosaurs, while a tempting idea that has been floated for decades, is practically impossible.

Scientists face huge hurdles, like heavily damaged fossils and a severe lack of viable DNA samples from species that died out millions of years ago. Interestingly, some organizations are working on de-extinction, just not with dinosaurs.

Colossal Biosciences, for example, is focused on bringing back more recently extinct species. Their official X account even jumped into the conversation on Musk’s post, clarifying, “Can’t bring back dinosaurs, but we’re de-extincting other species like the dire wolf, moa, dodo, thylacine, and woolly mammoth.”
