Which Starting Area Should You Choose in Ashes of Creation Early Access

You can pick your starting area when you start Ashes of Creation, at least during its Early Access, but which one should you choose?

Both regions have different lore and aesthetics, of course, so their flavor varies. But what about gameplay? Is there one that is simply better to pick? What are the pros and cons?

Well, this quick guide will answer all of these questions for you!

Which Starting Area Should You Choose | Ashes of Creation – Early Access

As we mentioned before, there are two different starting regions currently. Those are the Divine Gate of Aela (The Riverlands) and the Divine Gate of the Dünzekell (The Anvils).

Out of those two, we highly recommend The Riverlands as your pick. It’s the more developed of the two starting regions currently, as The Anvils warns that it’s still a work in progress.

This means that it has a more polished quest flow overall, which is better at introducing you to the game. It’s less overwhelming, as it teaches you the game’s basics better through its quests. So, it’s by far the best option for new players!

That said, players who are more experienced with MMORPGs or are making a new character could also do well with The Anvils. It’s a bit more “hands-off” in its flow, which gives you more freedom to explore right out of the gate.

However, this hands-off approach and it being a work in progress does mean it’s a tad jankier at introducing you to the game. That’s why, again, we recommend The Riverlands instead for new players.

Nonetheless, that’s all there is to know about which starting area you should choose in the Early Access launch of Ashes of Creation! We hope this helped you with this decision.

Speaking of decisions, are you still figuring out which class to play? Well, maybe we can help! Check out our breakdown of which class is best to play.
