How to Get Gold in Hytale

Gold is one of the many types of metals you can find in Hytale, and it’s particularly important to get it if you want to make potions and elixirs.

More specifically, Gold Ingots are one of the requirements for making the Alchemist’s Workbench. So, you can not start your life as an alchemist until you get some gold!

To help you with your alchemical quest, I’ll quickly tell you where to find Gold Ore and how to refine it.

Where to Find and How to Use Gold Ore

There are two main spots where you can find Gold Ore in Hytale. The first is the desert region, known as the Howling Sands. You can tell it apart on your map thanks to its yellow sand, as shown in the example above.

While Gold Ore is very rare in this region, you can still sometimes find it out in the open. Look at the top of mountains and along the edges of cliffs for it.

I reiterate, though, Gold Ore is still very rare in this region. Nonetheless, it’s the earliest possible point in the game where you can find it. So, it’s your best bet until you reach the snowy region later on.

Once you do reach the snowy region, Whisperfrost Frontiers, you can get some more Gold Ore! Look for it within the snowy mountains, which should appear on your map like the one in the example above.

Much like in the desert, though, Gold Ore isn’t super common in this region either. Nonetheless, you can spot it alongside the sides of the mountain and within caves here.

As an upside, Gold Ore is actually even easier to spot in the snowy mountains. The golden shimmer really stands out from the mountain’s dark rocks. Plus, you can also get some Cobalt Ore in this region.

How to Smelt the Gold Ore

Now that you have some Gold Ore, you’ll need to use a Furnace to process it. You probably have one by now! But, if not, you can make one at the Workbench using 6 Tree Trunks of any type and 6 Stones of any type.

Then, you just need to add the Gold Ore into the Furnace’s Input alongside some fuel, such as Sticks. Turn it on and let it cook to smelt your Gold Ore into Gold Ingots, which you can use for crafting!
