Can You Breed Animals in Hytale?

Hytale just came out in Early Access, and anyone who wants to make a farm in the game is probably wondering: can you breed animals in this game?

After all, farming is a notable feature in the game. If you plan to run a farm, though, you would ideally be able to breed more animals. You need them for resources, after all, such as for food and whatnot…

In this article, we’ll quickly tell you everything we know about breeding animals in Hytale’s Early Access version.

Is It Possible to Breed Animals in Hytale?

Sadly, as of this writing, there is currently no way to breed animals in Hytale. The Early Access launch version does not include the feature at all.

That said, the feature is planned to be added eventually, as the game’s development progresses. But, for the time being, you just can’t breed animals in any way.

Furthermore, speaking of animals, they also currently do not age at all. That means that, for example, Piglets will never grow up to be full adult Pigs. This is also expected to be added later on but, again, simply isn’t there yet.

Similarly, the taming system is also currently unfinished. It doesn’t really work, even though sometimes it might appear to, such as by hearts appearing when trying to feed animals. However, the system isn’t implemented yet.

On the other hand, this doesn’t mean that there is nothing to do regarding animals in the game. You can still capture smaller animals, for example. This allows you to set them up at a farm, even if it’s mostly for producing a few resources only.

Additionally, you can also place Chicken Coops, which nearby chickens will use at night. The chickens will produce Eggs and leave them behind in the coop for you to pick up in the morning.

However, these Eggs seem to never hatch into more chickens, either. They are merely a consumable item, at least in the current state of the game.

So, again, long story short: you can not breed animals in Hytale as of the Early Access launch. The feature will be implemented later in the game’s life, but it’s not available yet, sadly.
