Red Sandstone is one of the many materials you can get in Hytale, though you can’t get it directly.
If you’ve managed to find Red Sandstone in the wild, you probably tried to mine it just to get Red Sandstone Cobble. This is the first part on how to get this material, but you still need to do a bit more work on it.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to get and make Red Sandstone.
How to Make Red Sandstone

Red Sandstone requires a bit of a process to get. First of all, you’ll need to head to any biome within the desert Howling Sands region and look for Red Sandstone blocks. They should look something like the ones in the example above.
Once you find them, mine them and you’ll get Red Sandstone Cobble. You’ll need to convert this cobble into Red Sandstone later on at a ratio of 2 cobble per finished sandstone.
So, if you need 50 Red Sandstone, you’ll need to collect at least 100 Red Sandstone Cobble. Just keep that in mind while mining.

When you have enough Red Sandstone Cobble, you’ll need to use a Furnace. If you don’t have one yet, you can craft it by using your standard Workbench.

At the Furnace, you just need to add the Red Sandstone Cobble into the Input and add any fuel source (such as Sticks). Turn it on and wait for it to cook the cobbled sandstone into standard Red Sandstone blocks!
You can now use the Red Sandstone for anything you want, such as making buildings or making Clay at the Furniture Workbench. It’s up to you at this point!
As a bonus tip, though, know that you can hit Red Sandstone blocks with a Hammer. This changes their appearance between the regular one and the cobble look. It’s purely visual, but it might help for customization.
Nonetheless, that’s all you need to know to get Red Sandstone in Hytale. Do you also need want to gather some Glass? Check out our guide on where to find Glass!
