Marjorie Taylor Greene rips former ally after an “absolutely unnecessary” in Iran, questioning every promise

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former ally of President Trump, is absolutely not holding back after a recent U.S. operation in Iran, calling it “absolutely unnecessary” and questioning every promise made on the campaign trail, as reported by The Hill. This comes after the U.S. Central Command reported that three American service members were killed during “Operation Epic Fury,” an action that has clearly struck a nerve with Greene.
The operation, launched in tandem with Israel, reportedly resulted in the deaths of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a number of other high-ranking political and military officials. Beyond the tragic loss of life, five American service members were seriously wounded, with several others sustaining minor shrapnel injuries and concussions.
Greene took to X to express her profound sorrow and anger, writing, “My God, these poor military members and their poor families. I’m sorry for them and praying for them.” She didn’t mince words, adding, “This was absolutely unnecessary and is unacceptable.” She highlighted that President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had all “campaigned on no more foreign wars and regime change.”
Greene’s relationship with President Trump has been on the rocks for a while
Greene resigned from the House last month after their feud escalated, particularly over his handling of files related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his decision to authorize U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last June. These disagreements led to President Trump pulling his support from Greene in November, and her departure from Congress was announced just a week later.
Greene continued her strong criticism of the administration, specifically recalling the promises made during rallies and speeches. “We said ‘No More Foreign Wars, No More Regime Change!’ We said it on rally stage after rally stage, speech after speech,” Greene wrote on X. “Trump, Vance, basically the entire admin campaigned on it and promised to put America FIRST and Make America Great Again.”
She feels deeply betrayed by this turn of events, stating, “My generation has been let down, abused, and used by our government our entire adult lives and our children’s generation is literally being abandoned.” She had genuinely believed that President Trump’s victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024 meant it was “finally time to put America First.”
Instead, she now sees the U.S. entangled in yet another “pointless” Middle Eastern conflict. Greene’s frustration isn’t just about foreign policy; she also tied it back to domestic issues, echoing sentiments from some Democrats on Capitol Hill. “Does war with Iran fix our healthcare system and make health insurance affordable for Americans?? No war with Iran does not do that and the MAGA admin and Republicans aren’t even working on it in any serious way at all,” she stated.
President Trump, in announcing the strikes, acknowledged the potential for casualties. He said, “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties.” He went on to explain his rationale, noting, “That often happens in war, but we’re doing this not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.”
Greene’s response to this justification was particularly pointed. She reposted a video clip from the movie “Shrek,” featuring the coldhearted villain Lord Farquaad. In the clip, Farquaad tells competitors in a tournament that “some of you may die, but it’s a sacrifice I am willing to make.”
