Nikki Haley is absolutely not holding back, slamming Democrats who are claiming the Iranian regime wasn’t a threat to the U.S. She’s calling that notion “absurd” and labeling the recent U.S.-Israeli military offensive, Operation Epic Fury, a “history-defining moment.”
Haley, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, didn’t mince words on X. She pointed out that for decades, the Iranian regime has been targeting American troops, making the spread of terrorism a top priority, constantly pursuing nuclear weapons, and even building missiles aimed right at U.S. bases.
According to Fox News, Haley even mentioned their plots to assassinate President Donald Trump and other U.S. leaders, including herself, right here on American soil. She said that when they’d chant “Death to America,” they really meant it, for all of us, no matter the cost.
Haley is certain Trump saw right through Iran’s “deception”
Talking to Martha MacCallum, Haley emphasized that Operation Epic Fury is a massive moment for history, and for Trump, it’s a “legacy defining moment.” She’s convinced that diplomacy with Iran just doesn’t work because they always “lie, they cheat, they never tell the truth, and they always want to make sure in the back of their minds they want to harm people.”
However, this military operation has definitely sparked a major split within the Democratic Party. On one side, you have Senators Tim Kaine and Bernie Sanders calling Epic Fury “illegal” and criticizing the attacks on Iran. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also said the operation lacked “strategic clarity” and wasn’t a “viable strategy” given Trump’s “fitful cycles of lashing out.” All three have stressed Congress to return to session and vote on a war powers resolution.
Senator Kaine, for instance, declared on February 28, when the strikes first began, that President Trump had “launched an unnecessary, idiotic, and illegal war against Iran that puts America’s servicemembers and embassy personnel at risk.” Senator Sanders echoed this sentiment, calling it an “illegal, premeditated and unconstitutional war.”
He further warned that such an attack against a sovereign nation violates international law and will only lead to “increased instability in an already dangerous world,” creating “international anarchy, death, destruction and human misery.” Sanders made it clear that we “must not allow Trump to force us into another senseless war.”
But it’s not all criticism. Some Democrats are actually praising the operation. Senator John Fetterman, for example, has indicated he’d be a “hard no” if Democrats tried to force a war powers resolution vote. He even took to X to say, “President Trump has been willing to do what’s right and necessary to produce real peace in the region. God bless the United States, our great military, and Israel” as Operation Epic Fury kicked off.
Representative Josh Gottheimer is another Democrat who supports the action, stressing that “confronting the Iranian threat is essential to national security and to global stability.” He praised the U.S. and Israel for taking “decisive action to defend our national security, fight terror, protect our allies, and stand with the Iranian people.” He did, however, request an immediate classified briefing on the operation and called on the president to comply with the War Powers Act.
